You no longer need card readers or terminals. Tap to Pay on iPhone makes it easy to start a new business or expand an existing one. Anyone can accept contactless payments with just an iPhone and the Terminal app. It's that simple.
Tap to Pay on iPhone uses integrated iPhone features to ensure the privacy and security of your business and customer data. When processing a payment, Apple does not store card numbers and PINs either on the iPhone or on its servers. This way, merchants and customers can be confident that their data remains secure.
Transactions requiring PIN entry will automatically display the PIN entry screen when using Tap to Pay on iPhone. When this screen appears, Tap to Pay on iPhone blocks background apps from accessing sensors that could reveal any part of the PIN. During payment processing, Tap to Pay on iPhone blocks all photo, video, screenshot, and screen recording functions on the merchant's iPhone to prevent capturing the customer's card number or PIN.
For customers who need visual or other assistance, Tap to Pay on iPhone integrates accessibility features that help them securely enter their PIN. Audio instructions help customers indicate their PIN on the screen or tap the screen to mark each digit: once for 1, twice for 2, and so on. To confirm their PIN, simply swipe right with two fingers.
